Charities involved

The Free Wills Month Scotland charities provide a wide range of services across the country – supporting vulnerable children and older people, funding research into specific medical conditions, saving lives at sea, alleviating poverty and caring for people whose lives are touched by illness.  Their work benefits many thousands of people of all ages across Scotland every year - please give consideration to leaving a gift in your Will to help these charities provide essential services for generations to come.

Every five minutes someone in the UK has a stroke. A stroke doesn't discriminate. It can happen to anyone at any time of their life. Strokes are sudden and their consequences can be devastating. The Stroke Association is the only national charity solely concerned with helping everyone affected by stroke. Our mission is to prevent strokes, and reduce their effect through providing services, campaigning, education and research. Stroke shatters lives: your legacy could help rebuild them.

The RNLI provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Our volunteer crews are people from all walks of life who give up their time to carry out rescues in difficult and dangerous conditions.

The work of our lifeboat crews - along with the provision of the best possible boats, equipment and training to ensure their safety - relies entirely upon your generosity. An astonishing six out of ten lifeboat launches are only made possible because of legacy gifts. Your support is vital in training and equipping our volunteer lifesaving crews.

Barnardo's Scotland vision is that the lives of all children and young people should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. Our purpose is to help the most vulnerable children and young people transform their lives and fulfil their potential.

As one of the leading children's charities in Scotland we work with around 10,000 children every year. We run 62 community-based services, including counselling for children who have been abused, fostering and adoption services, and vocational training.

64,000 people in Scotland have dementia.  There are many different kinds of dementia, the most common being Alzheimer's disease.  Dementia affects each person differently but common symptoms include severe memory loss, confusion and a decline in cognitive functioning.

Alzheimer Scotland works for people with dementia and their carers by providing practical services, a campaigning voice, funding research and operating a 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline.

By leaving a legacy to Alzheimer Scotland, you can make the caring easier.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is the UK's leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, education and campaigning. With nearly 46,000 women being diagnosed in the UK with breast cancer every year, we have recently expanded our research, launching our first dedicated Research Unit in Edinburgh, for developing kinder, improved breast cancer treatments. Our scientists are dedicated to finding new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent this disease, working towards ensuring the lives of women with breast cancer will be improved now and in years to come.

Age Concern Scotland aims to make life fulfilling and enjoyable for older people throughout Scotland.  We campaign on issues of national importance and provide practical help and information.

At the heart of our work is the belief that all older people should have the opportunity to be active members of society, fully included and free from prejudice and abuse.

We rely on donations and legacies to continue this important work.  Please remember us in your will.
